We now live in a nation where people can be segregated and discriminated against on the basis of whether they’ve had a medical procedure that has only been provisionally approved by the Therapeutic Goods Administration.
Right now people can be denied service in businesses if they have not been double vaccinated and, worse still, people have lost or are losing their jobs in government agencies and private corporations for not having had the COVID-19 vaccine.
This process of a government official or a private business requesting to see your medical records in order to discriminate against you is a form of apartheid that must end now.
The Human Rights Commission says that the request for private medical data through some vaccine passport system “may have significant implications for privacy and autonomy, freedom of movement and association, equity and discrimination, particularly when it comes to accessing everyday goods and services.”
We need to end this invasion of our medical privacy and end the discrimination.
Some months ago I co-sponsored the No Domestic COVID-19 Vaccine Passport Bill which, if enacted into law, would prohibit any segregation based on COVID-19 vaccination status. And now I have told the Australian Government that, unless they move to stop vaccine discrimination, they can no longer rely on my vote in the federal parliament to pass government bills. Great speech George. Honest, clear and straight to the point. Personally, I am still completely lost for words when I think of what the Australian government is doing to this great country of ours. Never before have I heard of such utter contempt for the Australian people and the total disregard for our freedoms that the Anzac's gave their lives to defend! Keep up the good fight George and I hope eventually there will be a resurgence of common sense!!!
Tania, it is not objection to the vaccination being discussed here, it is the right of an individual to choose and their right to Privacy protection of their personal medical information - perhaps you could speak to that.
