Nation First looks at options company directors have with new Australian Securities and Investments Commission requirements for Australian company directors to get a Directors' ID.
We set up a SMSF and received a letter stating that we had to set up a Director ID. (through our accountant) This appears to be at the very commencement of the roll out process. We had no idea what it was about and could not get any real answers to our questions. Only clear statement was we would be heavily fined if we did not comply. Not at all happy about this and could see no purpose for it. We very reluctantly set up one. Would love to know how to "retire it" permanently.

It makes sense and because this organisation (the ABRS) is a company and not the Australian Government, we do not have to consent. Is anybody else going to fight this? It would be great if we could form a group of some sort.
Ive tried 3 times to get it done over the phone - a recorded message keeps telling me because of high volume of calls I have to phone back. Then it cuts the call. Australian Government at its best!!
One can also apply by mailing in a form. Even though it says for people outside of Australia, you can fill it in if you are in australia with only two bits of ID
