If we are to look at history, we will find that the centre of the economic world within the past millennia has been migrating ever westward.

We start off with the ancient Indian empires at the heart of the Indian sea trade, eventually who were economically eclipsed by the newly consolidated Ming China and the revival of the Silk trade route.

Then came the Ottoman Empire, acting as the middleman between the trade between the East and West.

And then, emerged the West, growing rich from their discovery of new trade networks and embracing the industrial revolution.

Following the World Wars, we saw the economic centre of the globe further shift westward to the United States, where it had remained until very recently.

Today, we are witnessing the shifting of that centre again to China, with major geopolitical repercussions, especially for the West.
