Nigel Farage was elected to the European Parliament in 1999, and, against the odds, the political party he led — the United Kingdom Independence Party or UKIP — topped the polls for the 2014 European parliamentary elections in the UK against the mainstream British Labour and Conservative parties.

Farage then went onto found the Brexit Party (now known as Reform UK) and once again topped the polls in the UK’s 2019 European parliamentary elections.

He has been a close friend of Donald J. Trump and has spoken alongside the 45th President of the United States at numerous ‘Trump rallies’.

Some two years following Brexit which unavoidably ended his European parliamentary career, Farage was made the host of his own show on the new British TV network GB News.

Farage is coming to Australia next month as part of a speaking tour organised by Turning Point Australia, and will speak to audiences in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.

It was thanks to Turning Point Australia that I got the chance to interview Nigel Farage late last week for my new Nation First Interviews podcast.
