Hi George. Thanks for all you are doing. I scrutineered at the last election. This is what I learnt. (This is the what the government scrutineering booklet rules).

1. Those who voted for minor parties followed the instructions to put their sitting member last and the other major party second last.

2. They put the minor parties at the top.

3. All were counted and put into their respective separate piles.

4. Mostly, across Australia, the two major parties' piles were 1st and 2nd in height

5. Then the minor parties were placed in one pile. When they were altogether they were the TALLEST pile.

6. Then they were divided up between the two major parties ( or the two original biggest piles)

6. Because the sitting member was generally Liberal and therefore placed last , most minor party voters were placed on the Labor pile. Therefore minor parties actually put in the Labor government.

7. The only way to remove the major party in the next election is for minor parties to unify on what they agree on and become one group or there is almost no way any minor party can get in. But most are unwilling to unify on one common objective.

8.Voting the way we did is just enabling parties that we don't want to get in.
