I see people saying here that there were crowds celebrating in the streets of Venezuela.

Footage shown on mainstream media has been lopsided. It appears that the people of Venezuela are divided on the USA's actions. I have seen much footage, interestingly not shown in the mainstream media, of mass protests against the USA occuring on the streets of Caracas, and the number of protesting Venezuelans in that footage is astonishing. One elderly woman is even weeping openly about it. I have also seen some footage of people partying, but not in big numbers. Some footage is circulating around the internet that shows Venezuelan emigres to the USA celebrating in Miami, Florida, not in Venezuela itself.

To be sure, I know a Venezuelan personally. They aren't political; just an average Juan. I contacted them and asked for their thoughts on the matter. Their reply (roughly translated from Spanish to English) was: "I am happy we might be free of Maduro, but I am sad our country was attacked like that and that Venezuelans have died. We don't want to be under American rule." I would suggest that this is the view of many others in the country.

If some of our hated politicians were captured to stand trial for crimes they committed, we would also celebrate, but if it were done by a foreign power by bombing our nation and killing other Australians, we wouldn't be so happy. Less so if they said they were staying to run the country.

We must not fall into the blind spot that just because "our guy" (President Trump) did it, it is right. That is almost the direct inversion of Trump Derangement Syndrome and is just as illogical.

Along with countless Venezuelans, I couldn't disagree with you more George. President Trump has just achieved what those before him wanted to, but couldn't, or wouldn't. As for invoking the opinions of anti-Trumpers, Massie, Paul and Greene, that's just stretching credibility a bit too far.
