I see people saying here that there were crowds celebrating in the streets of Venezuela.
Footage shown on mainstream media has been lopsided. It appears that the people of Venezuela are divided on the USA's actions. I have seen much footage, interestingly not shown in the mainstream media, of mass protests against the USA occuring on the streets of Caracas, and the number of protesting Venezuelans in that footage is astonishing. One elderly woman is even weeping openly about it. I have also seen some footage of people partying, but not in big numbers. Some footage is circulating around the internet that shows Venezuelan emigres to the USA celebrating in Miami, Florida, not in Venezuela itself.
To be sure, I know a Venezuelan personally. They aren't political; just an average Juan. I contacted them and asked for their thoughts on the matter. Their reply (roughly translated from Spanish to English) was: "I am happy we might be free of Maduro, but I am sad our country was attacked like that and that Venezuelans have died. We don't want to be under American rule." I would suggest that this is the view of many others in the country.
If some of our hated politicians were captured to stand trial for crimes they committed, we would also celebrate, but if it were done by a foreign power by bombing our nation and killing other Australians, we wouldn't be so happy. Less so if they said they were staying to run the country.
We must not fall into the blind spot that just because "our guy" (President Trump) did it, it is right. That is almost the direct inversion of Trump Derangement Syndrome and is just as illogical.
George, your comments and article are pretty spot on. Massie, Rand Paul, Majorie Taylor Greene are all exactly correct. I know many Venezuelans and have studied geopolitics for decades, so it is perhaps easier for me to see the reality then some well-meaning commentors who clearly haven't thought this through or know the media propaganda so well. People need to judge issues and people on merit, facts, and what they actually do, not on the old left vs right paradigm nonsense, which is a lot of the problem here in Australia too. (Reminds me of the Syria situation with Assad - always Assad bad, the opposition forces good, with propaganda like the fake gassing claims, and how the Americans, Israeli's, British, French, etc, eventually destroyed the country though sanctions, embargo's, stealing the oil, funding and arming ISIS/Al-Qaeda, till eventually the economic situation was so bad that Assad and the Syrian Army could no longer continue, now with the 2nd in command of Al-Qaeda, Jolani in charge of the country who also has Israeli and Saudi links).
While some Venezuelans wanted Maduro gone, some were supporters, so it is mixed in opinion. However, almost nobody supports the US intervention, or the fake drug charges and drug trafficking allegations, this is complete BS and everyone from their knows this. While a small amount of drugs does move through Venezuela, most of the trafficking comes from Colombia, Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, Brazil, with lots being transited through El Salvador, Hoduras, Guatemala and other countries below/near Mexico on the map, but the fact is Venezuela is not a drug trafficking country per say.
The fact is most Venezuelans are opposed to the US and the trampling of their sovereignty and do NOT approve a foreign power raping them further. While the country has suffered greatly financially, it partly comes from socialism, but actually in this case has resulted largely from the ongoing sanctions/embargo's imposed by the US, that has destroyed the country economically. Venezuela has rich natural resources, not just oil, but gold, silver, precious metals, energy, etc.
As for Trump, he has lost the plot and is completely unhinged these days, and appears to be totally under the control of the NeoCons and Israel lobby. I watched his press conference after the Maduro coup and he appeared disconnected, aged, delusional, similar to Biden in some respects, with a concoction of lies one after the other...a train wreck press conference that only an idiot would believe. I supported him in the 1st term, but not anymore, as he has been an absolute disaster on many fronts, especially foreign policy and creating wars and meddling in foreign countries, plus crazy threats and insane rants. In my opinion the MAGA movement is disintegrating and finished, and Trump appears to have just lied and conned the American people and his supporters on his supposed 'anti-war' rallies and the rest of his rhetoric...remember him multiple times stating no more meddling in foreign wars, I'll solve the Ukraine/Russia war on day one, and other lies. All we've had is wars, bombings, supplying more weapons/money to Ukraine and Israel, failed tariffs, token coins for Trump, failed foreign policy, luke warm domestic policy changes, and in bed with the Tech lunatics like Musk, Ellison, Thiel, Zuckerberg, with maniac NeoCons & Israel paid for and selected cabinet picks like Rubio, Hegseth, Bondi, none of which have any talent or ability other than doing what there lobbyists want them to do...It appears that the whole US government is captured by money, bribery, foreign interests, lobbyists, etc.
The MAGA movement is finished, with tens of thousands quitting in disgust and others have just had enough of all the broken promises/lies. The Charlie Kirk assasination by the Mossad hit team was also a final straw for many as Kirk could no longer support Israel given their genocidal behaviour, plus other MAGA heavieweights like Tucker Carlson, Candace Owens, etc have all exposed a lot of what is going on and quit the movement too.
The reality on the ground is the support is massive for Maduro, and little for the US, but the MSM will push the fake footage (like the Saddam footage when he was toppled...the CIA had agitators pull down the Saddam statue, etc, but very little actuall support for the US invadors) and try and use this as a brain-washing exercise to show how 'popular' this was, when in fact it is deeply loathed by the average citizen.
On the upside, in Venezuela, they had democracy before the Marxists took it away, so it is not like bombing Iraq and Syria and expecting the flowers of democracy to bloom.
Along with countless Venezuelans, I couldn't disagree with you more George. President Trump has just achieved what those before him wanted to, but couldn't, or wouldn't. As for invoking the opinions of anti-Trumpers, Massie, Paul and Greene, that's just stretching credibility a bit too far.
Massie, Paul, and Green aren't anti-Trumpers by any stretch of the imagination. In fact, for the most part, until the Epstein list fiasco, they've been supporters and campaigned for him. They were right to criticise him over the Epstein list, and they're right to criticise him over this.
Whatever anyone wants to say about this, President Trump stated what he would do, prior to taking office. Unlike most politicians, he does what he says.
Hmmm... not sure about that one. Refer to the quotes from my article about Trump promising to end regime change and nation building as US foreign policy.
Don't you remember him saying no more wars or interventions in foreign conflicts...actually, dozens of times, what a hypocrite and con-artist. Like many others, I thought he would stick to his word and was the only choice versus Kamala Harris, but we were all conned, just for his hubris and self-interest. Unfortunately, Trump has turned out to be nothing but a liar, war-monger, neo-con stooge, who has trashed the rule of law, the Constitution, free speech with an awful foreign policy that is on a par with the equally incompetent Obama and Biden. He has repeatedly said multiple times that under him , there would be 'No more Wars', 'Ukraine Russia conflict to be resolved on day 1', 'I stands for the Constitution', and on it goes...all just lies to con America and his MAGA base.
I thought Trump did a reasonable good job in his 1st term on some issues like border security, economy, restarting industry/manufacturing, etc, and was unfairly targeted on some issues (Russiagate, DOJ, Impeachment and all that nonsense). However, this time he seems completely unhinged, almost crazy, especially on foreign policy, and is completely surrounded by NeoCons and israel lobby picks like Rubio, Hegseth, Bondi, none of which have any talent other than doing the dirty work for the defence industry and foreign masters. I suspect that like many other senior US politicians, billionaires, and ex-Presidents, that the Israeli Mossad Agent Jeffrey Epstein (and Ghislane Maxwell) has plenty of dirt on him hence why he appears to be letting Israel run the US currently. Seems like a 'rinse and repeat' of the Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinski (also an Israil agent) scandal.
I never cease to he amazed by the 'so-called' supporters that abandon ship as soon as something happens that they don't agree with. It only took one very successful incursion into Venezuela for the pretenders to come to light. You conveniently ignore all the successes in just 12 months, and the fact that the Trump administration has been working overtime to resolve the war between Russia and Ukraine. Of course you also can't help but have a dig at Israel, but that's hardly unique. I'd suggest either you don't have a clue, or you're still getting too much of your information from legacy media, or both.
I support people on facts, evidence, truth and their actions, not MSM lies or right-left paradigm. I don't care if people are on the so-called right, left, middle, whatever. Judge people on what they do, not what they say. The reality is Trump is a disaster, even starting to make Biden and Obama look reasonable which is terrible. Trump was meant to finish the war in Ukraine on day one...so much for that and his other promises of no more wars, etc, all lies and hubris to con people into voting for him...and look where we are, on the verge of WWIII...oh dear.
OMG another tragic, thinking we're on the brink of WWIII, just like when Trump had the Iranian general taken out and later wiped out their nuclear capability. President Trump has achieved more positive outcomes in less than a year, and has started NO wars, yet people like you call him a disaster. I'd suggest the only 'disaster' is people with TDS that are incapable of acknowledging what is undoubtedly the best U.S. administration in living memory.
Difference is Obama and Biden spent years encouraging and building up that coke sniffing goblin Zelensky to ensure he continued his actions that they knew would elicit a response from Russia. Hardly the actions of any reasonable leader. Just because someone makes a campaign promise does not mean they are beholden to it as their primary role as leader is to protect the nation. Over 4m illegals had poured into the country under the senile old man in charge before him, drug trafficking was out of control because of idiotic Socialist Democrat policies. Good thing POTUS was on top of his game, changed strategy and got it done.
sorry Meduro was a drug lord dictator he wasn't even the legitimate leader of the country as he lost the last election to the woman who won the nobel peace prize ........there was no bombing of civilians and the celebration on the streets of Venezuela speaks for itself after 20 years of violence drugs and oppression the people are now free it will take time for the proper regime to settle in and hopefully this wont take long in the meantime the USA will keep things stable ....they were not a sovereign country now maybe they will be able to become one again I know who's side i am on the people of Venezuela
Helen, I'm sure you are well meaning, but Venezuela is not really a drug trafficking country nor is Maduro. This is all propaganda and not supported by the facts on the ground. I know lots of Venezuelans - some are supporters of Maduro, some against him, but none are for a foreign takeover. The people do NOT want foreign intervention. Venezuela was a sovereign country, but not anymore. It will end up in endless civil war, just like Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, Libya, et al. The main drug trafficking countries in Sth America are Colombia, Bolivia, Peru, Brazil, Ecuador...this is where most of the trafficking comes from, with only a small amount coming from Venezuela. The woman you are talking about (Machado) is a CIA operative and a fraud, and the so-called Nobel Prize is a joke. Sorry, to inform you that the streets are 95% full of people protesting with small numbers in support of the coup, all just a MSM operation to instill the idea this is supported internally, which it isn't. While Maduro was a socialist, which never works, the country was mostly financially ruined by sanctions/embargo's for the past 2 decades in conjunction with the policies of successive governments.
How can anyone be free when a foreign power has taken over your sovereignty. It would be like the US, Indonesia, China, or any other country taking over Australia because they don't like our leader? Once the US take over, nothing will change for the people - just look at Iraq, Libya, Syria, et al. Further, sorry to inform you that civilians have been killed by the Americans in the fake drug boat bombings and some in the cross fire. Venezuela. The only winners out of this will be the US and all the profits, oil, resources flooding into their coffers, certainly not the Venezuelan people.
Yes MAGA is dead. What started out with some good ideas and things worth supporting is lost given Trump has pretty much thrown the whole movement under the bus. MTG is a good woman and on the money here. Trump has even been trashing her and Massie and anyone who points out facts he doesn't like. He has completely lost the plot and doesn't seem to care as the movement got him what he wanted. POWER and more money...so much for principle!
MAGA is dead...the movement is disintegrating, as Trump has basically lied about too many things such that a point comes when even the most dyed in the wool supporters are walking away. So much for no more wars, solve Ukraine/Russia in one day, no more foreign interventions, etc
Didn't Maduro taunt Trump, "Come and get me?" Maduro never figured he actually would. I understand your concerns, but if those videos of the jubilant people in the streets is anything to go by, Trump made the right choice.
According to Jones, it's really about dismantling the globalists' control (Venezuela/Maduro being a critical hub in the destruction of America - major hub of US election fraud, China's involvement/drug cartels etc all to take down the US). Listen to Alex Jones' take. He has deep sources inside the WH. I don't always like him or agree with him, but I believe him on this and most things. Also look up https://www.prometheanaction.com/ Susan Kokinda's commentary on Trump working to break free of the centuries old British Banking Empire's financial control over the West.. very compelling.. the pieces of the puzzle make sense. This is about so much more than meets the eye.
You conveniently didn't mention that when Chaves nationalized the oil industry, it was largely US companies who had all their assets stripped. That's a lot of money lost to US companies, that Trump clearly is going to get back. Its yet to be seen what will happen re royalty payments, tax etc, but I wouldn't assume the people will not benefit when the industry is rebuilt.
Any particular decisions? Is it, no WWIII over Iran, lower inflation, Israeli hostages released, southern border closed, tariffs working, lower taxes now permanent, MAHA efforts to improve health, scrapping the 'green new deal', resolving several conflicts around the world, sticking up for Nigerian christians, accepting persecuted white South African farmers into the U.S.........? The list goes on, and yes there's no doubt he's not perfect, but Australia would be a much better place with someone of his courage and work ethic. Imagine what more he could have achieved in this first year, without constant obstruction from the left, including their judiciary.
I'm torn. Oil definitely has something to do with it, and is probably the prime reason Trump struck. Venezuela is a dictatorship, but do other countries have a right to intervene?
I guess we'll just have to wait and see how it plays out...
Sadly, it will end up in disaster, civil unrest, more violence, as history everywhere has shown. Just name one country where this has worked out well for the people? Nil. Just think about Afghanistan, Iraq & Libya in recent history...this is where Venezuela is heading to an even worse abyss. Regardless of what we think of foreign leaders, their politics, policies, etc, they are leaders of 'sovereign nations' and it is up to the people of their country to determine that, not us. Yes, oil, natural resources, and importanlty and especially geopolitics have everything to do with this. The US is acting like a pirate, stealing the assets of a sovereign nation...rinse and repeat as in Iraq, Syria, Libya. This will not end well. The people on the ground do not support this contrary to the MSM propaganda. MSM is not reporting the massive rallies happeneing all over Venezuela. Even oponents of Maduro are mostly against this. While America may have the military might their time as world hegemony leader is coming to an end, that the reality of every empire. Reminds me of the end of the most successful empire in history, Rome. Eventually, it collapsed from within, which is now well on its way in the US.
I still have some faith in Trump and don't think he is a Trojan Horse. But, I am beginning to think he has been captured by the wrong crowd in D.C. Whether he can be walked back to his MAGA roots by the likes of former allies like Stephen K. Bannon, I'm not sure. If not, I suspect the midterm elections in November this year might make him a lame-duck president for his final two years.
I really hope I am wrong but all the people that I respect that have been the rabbit hole for a long time have dug up so much that show he is controlled like they all are. Red blue all the same & controlled by the same
I think you may be on the wrong track here George. It is not a regime change but a liberation of the people and a warning to the Empire which has its financial fingers in the pies of many nations.
As someone pointed out recently that he had worked out what was going on in the UK, Canada & Australia - while the Israelites had kings who worshipped false gods, they struggled until they finally went into exile for 70 years. We have a king who worships a false god so what is to be our fate?
He also pointed out that it is pointless taking part in marches unless one is also on one's knees praying.
I am hearing other analysts suggesting that the removal of Maduro was Trump's swipe at the narco currency of financial power players.
Us little people have moaned about a legislative system that screws us and favours elites. Could it be that Trump is continuing to destabilise the world economic order?
I see people saying here that there were crowds celebrating in the streets of Venezuela.

You really do have a bad case of TDS. Do you get some sort of buzz by infecting this site?
Doesn’t look good for maga. M. T. G is a very courages women to tell it like it really is.
Give me a break! MTG is bent out of shape because President Trump would not support her run for a Georgia Senate seat. Since then she's gone feral.
This from Trumps old suppot base
He works for another nations interests

Totally agree George!
As an Australian and supporter of Trump, I have lost faith in him with many of the decisions his made since his reelection.
Troll alert.
I’m of your persuasion Helen…
Well said George. Maybe some others might be waking up to trojan Trump and the President of Peace
Red blue all the same & controlled by the same
Oh dear, here we go.
As Ryan Dawson sees it

because if you overthrow one evil dictatorship, who is safe?
Democracies are safe.
I am hearing other analysts suggesting that the removal of Maduro was Trump's swipe at the narco currency of financial power players.
Us little people have moaned about a legislative system that screws us and favours elites. Could it be that Trump is continuing to destabilise the world economic order?
Once again ignorance abounds in the freedom movement.
