I think they are way ahead of anything. I have maps app on my phone. I received a monthly report as to trips I made the prior month. Which was. You made 33 trips last month. 30 in your car and 3 on your motorcycle. Now I live in a mid western country town. How did they know my mode of transport??

I tend to agree Ray. I kind of think these things George is offering, with the utmost of good intension, are just divices designed to trick us into a false sense of privacy, encouraging us to reveal more online than we should.

Personally, I think in the not to distant future, one with all these Mis, Dis, Mal-information laws in place, people like Geoge will have to go back in time and physically mail out monthly news letters to us. It will be the only way around all this.

I have zero apps on my phone. Never use them. Don't trust them! I use my computer for the internet and barely even log onto the internet on my phone. I have to, to download an MMS - but I switch it off again after I've downloaded the message. Yes, I have an older phone ;-)

But I understand why so many people use phone apps. They can be so much easier - albeit a bit creepy when they know too much!

I used roadmap books until recently. Now I check where I'm going with Google Maps before I go somewhere. Occasionally I'll even print off the directions. But usually I just remember them. And I never let Google Maps or other places know my Location. I always block it.

Great ideas. But I'm not a tech. Hmmm....

I've used a VM before. It was the only way I could use a certain program on my work computer (it couldn't cope with anything newer than Windows XP!). It was a bit annoying having to do that, but I suppose if you needed to be careful with certain things online, then it's a good option.

TOR looks OK, but so many websites need SOME cookies etc, and places like online food shopping won't even work without basic cookies etc, as I found out, or they ask you to re-log in ALL the time!

I have a couple of Adblockers installed so I don't get pesky ads and all sorts of things I don't want tracking me, and I can turn them off for certain websites if I so desire.

I like Mozilla Firefox, and they also have a good private browsing window AND a VPN you can download. Google Chrome & MS Edge also have incognito modes FYI.

I also have anti-viral software (who wouldn't these days?!).

I guess if you're going to be on the Internet, you've got to be prepared. That means doing some basic reading and keeping yourself safe online. Just like your health, reading up on things, being prepared and making wise decisions never go astray! :-)
